Whoever was in the passenger door before me decided a ZIP TIE was a good substitute for a rubber grommet.

The power door lock on the Lincoln stopped working a little while back. No biggie, I have a few actuators in my parts bin. Popped open the door panel and found this. The zip tie was on the bottom of the door, broken. Took a grommet from my stash and reinstalled the actuator. Problem solved.

My thanks to the hack that was in there before me....

Our FJ40s radiator bracket broke on the trail one day and to fix it we suspended it with bungee cords. The temporary fix lasted 4 years before we got around to actually fixing it.

The window bracket rusted through in my GF’s old car and the driver’s window simply fell down. I opened the door up to attempt a fix, realized the scope of the problem, shoved in a 2x4 and some cardboard to make the window stay up and left a note saying “I bet you never expected this” inside of the door and donated the car to the Red Cross.

It was a monkey-shit brown ford taurus so it probably went to parts then junkyard, but who knows. I’d like to think that someone might have bought it (overpaid) for $300 and opened the door up themselves figuring “how hard can it be to fix this?” and found that note.

I might have to get creative like him to get the driver side rear sway bar end link off. It snapped and apparently the bolt is rusted SOLID to the sleeve it goes through. The other 3 were a piece of cake. Awaiting to see if a second dose of penetrating oil will work.

Mayhaps. Drove it since without any new noises though.
